At long last, the Christmas decor post is here.
By way of introduction for any new Facebook followers who are reading this post, we live off-base in an Old, Weird Townhome with no shelves and hardly any storage space.
Thus, Mr. H. and I put together some $30 DIY shelves.
I use the shelves for holiday decor and re-use as many items as possible to save money. This year, I visited Michael’s when they placed all Christmas decor at 40% off. I also used an awesome coupon for 25% off the total (including sale items). Michael’s currently has most Christmas items at 50% off and if you visit their coupon page, they have one for $5 off EVERY $25 spent!
Here is my thrifty breakdown:
Shelves: $30 (Lowes, click here for DIY instructions)
Nativity scene: $15 (Walmart)
Plates and Stands: $10 (Wal-Mart, I cut out the Holly and snowflake with my Silhouette)
White Vases: $4 (Michael’s Clearance Aisle)
Flowers, beads, silver leaves: $11.70 (Michael’s)
Silver and gold pine cones: $7.20 (Michael’s)
Silver Plates: $2 (thrift store, spray painted and added stickers from my DIY Christmas cards)
Martha Stewart snow flake drape: $4.50 (Michael’s)
Solid silver snowflake holders for my All Fired Up Candles ($8.10 for both, Michael’s)
Pretty Christmas mugs with lids: $1.35 each (Michael’s)
And last but not least…
Santa’s grouchiest reindeer costume: $8 (Walmart)
Fabio Santa’s a little too tight costume: $0 (gift from Grandma and Grandpa H)
Did you score any great deals on decor this year? Do tell!
